Rebecca A. Grant received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in ceramics in
December 2010 from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She
utilizes a wide range of skills from a variety of artistic disciplines
including drawing, painting, fiber arts, metal working, and sculptural
techniques. Numerous pieces of her functional pottery now reside in
private collections. Her current work consists mainly of figurative
sculptures created from ceramic and mixed media. She has twice been
accepted into the Sculpture on Campus Competition at SIUE, and received a
Provost Scholarship in spring 2010. She works primarily at her home
studio in Alton, Illinois, where she lives with her husband and two
dogs.

It was the honest
labor of hands that first drew Carly to clay. To that end, her work deals
with the aesthetic elevation of the everyday, of tasks, creatures and objects
alike, and the relationships that exist between them.
Growing up in “Oil Country” Alberta, Carly has been a fascinated since childhood
in how the things around her work, and an appreciation for the beauty in that.
She considers herself a “Mixed Media Sculptor with a sold clay base”, she is currently workout out of Calgary, AB.
