i often dream of studio assistants.
oh the things i could get done,
the ideas that would finally be realized.
not that i’d want someone to do all the work for me.
heavens no.
just a bit of help.
i wonder, for those of you that have studio help,
when did you get to the point where that was actually the best decision,
financial and otherwise?
once you’ve had the joy of someone else mixing your glazes for you, could you ever go back?
well for now i’ll take the help i can get.
our coffee breaks sure are fun : )
I've taken 3rd year ceramic students over their summer breaks for the past couple of years- just 1-3 days a week depending on my schedule. I've paid them, because I want them to feel like they can take ownership of the work they do with me. It's very much working in tandom with someone- so we do get work done faster when we do things together. When the summer interns go back to school in the fall I feel a little bit of relief, the studio is back to just me and I'm not scrambling to find things to keep them busy when things are slow. But the minute I get busy, I start wishing for help again.
I'd definitely hire an assistant if he/she were as adorable as yours is!
