As the NCECA board is hard at work reviewing proposals and
identifying programming for the 2013 conference in Houston it’s been
remarkable to note the extent to which current issues in ceramic art
are dynamically traversing international borders. Ways of making,
seeing, interpreting and positioning ceramic art in broader social and
cultural contexts are being re-examined in unexpected ways that involve
new technologies and interdisciplinary thinking.
When the International Academy of Ceramics meets in Santa Fe,
NM, in September 2012 will be the first time in many years this
auspicious gathering of makers, collectors, critics, museum and gallery
curators, educational institutions and ceramic centers convenes in the
US. NCECA is proud to be part of this important event by organizing the
juried exhibition Ecumene: Global Interface in American Ceramics.
There are only a few more days to submit your work for this important
opportunity. All selected artists will have work published and receive a
complementary copy of a full-color catalog that will be available for
purchase through print on demand service. Artists will also be eligible
for reimbursement for shipping expenses up to $100.
