Art Kudos is an annual international juried competition that serves to recognize and honor excellence in the visual arts. Artists who are selected as finalists benefit from world-wide exposure in a year-long online exhibition (www.artkudos.com) and have the opportunity to win cash awards for their exemplary work.

A total of $4,400 will be awarded as follows: Best of Show – $1,200; Second Place – $900; Third Place – $750; Founder’s Award of Distinction – $500; (3) Merit Awards – $250 each; (3) Honorable Mentions – $100 each.

Each year a distinguished art professional is chosen to serve as the awards judge and to ensure a diverse range of perspectives and expertise. We are very pleased to have David Cohen serving as the awards judge for the 2012 exhibition. David Cohen is editor and publisher of artcritical. He was Gallery Director at the New York Studio School from 2001-10 and art critic and contributing editor at the New York Sun from 2003-08. He is founder-moderator of The Review Panel which takes place at the National Academy Museum and School of Art and is podcast at artcritical. Born in London and educated at the University of Sussex and at the Courtauld Institute of Art, David wrote for leading newspapers and magazines in England and around the world before emigrating to the United States in 1999. His books include “Serban Savu” (Hatje Cantz verlag, 2011) and “Alex Katz Collages: A catalogue raisonné” (Colby College Museum of Art, 2005).

CARFAC: National Conference for Visual Artists

The Canadian Artists’ Representation / Le Front des artistes canadiens (CARFAC) is pleased to invite visual artists from across Canada to attend our annual conference in Ottawa at the Lord Elgin Hotel.
Register Now Conference Schedule This year’s conference will include discussions about copyright, the relationships between artists and galleries, the campaign for the Artist’s Resale Right, and the presentation of the Visual Arts Advocacy Award. Participants will also get a chance to rub shoulders with art lawyers who will be in town for their own conference – the first of its kind in Canada.

For its next exhibition Copenhagen Ceramics will present new works by Karen Bennicke and Steen Ipsen, two highly experienced ceramists with a particularly well-developed sense of operating visually within one of the great fields of inspiration for ornamentation – the world of geometry.
