Vipoo Srivilasa in Brisbane – Don’t miss it.

Vipoo Srivilasa will be exhibiting new work at Edwina Corlette Gallery in Brisbane during 17 October – 5 November 2011.

This is his first full show in Brisbane.

Vipoo will present 17 never before seen works created during a residency in Jingdezhen, China, last year.

Vipoo will also exhibit 6 willow pattern inspired ink drawings alongside ceramic pieces as well.

The opening night is Friday 28 October (but the show start from 17 October).

  • Make full use of the extruder and make custom extruder dies
  • Cut stencils from Tyvek
  • Use liquid latex resist with a deer-tail brush

  • Make tools out of common materials and how to modify existing tools to suit a specific need
  • Handbuild functional pots that have good form and function
  • Use circular and rectangular templates, and the method of making various parts fit together.
  • Use alternate ways of treating the bottom of a pot with regard to added feet or foot rings, as well as various types of handles made from slabs and coils.
  • Focus on soft slab construction while considering how stamped patterns and clay appliques enhance the surface
  • Create pieces by pinching, folding and draping thin slabs over bisqued clay molds.
