18 Hands Gallery is looking for entries for its 2010 “Dining In III: An Artful Experience,” a juried exhibition that will run the month of August (opening held in conjunction with the Houston Heights White Linen Night celebration.) The exhibition will feature hand-made ceramic items that might be found on a dinner table. Each artist’s submission must include an entry from one of two fixed categories: Place Setting and Decorative Tableware. A place setting should consist of 3 pieces – Dinner Plate, Salad Plate, and Bowl. An additional fourth coordinating serving piece may also be included. This might include a charger, bowl, tureen, ladle, utensil, drinking vessel, etc. NO MUGS OR COFFEE CUPS PLEASE. Items in the Decorative Tableware category could include candleholders, centerpieces, vases, or other decorative vessels. Submissions are open to all Unities States ceramic artists. Entry fee is $25.00, payable to 18 Hands Gallery. A maximum of 3 entries per artist will be reviewed (a Place Setting counts as a single entry.)

History in the Making V– 5th annual exhibition

Associate Professor of Art, Syracuse University Entry fee; $20 for one entry, $25 for two, $30 for three entries History in the Making ties contemporary ceramic work to past trends and styles. Any artist making work that combines historically-based design elements, themes, materials or applications is encouraged to apply. All accepted entrants will be asked to submit a small image of their historical reference and a brief statement describing the connection.
