Job posting – Westminster College

Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pennsylvania.

One year, Assistant Professor position beginning the Fall of 2010 to Fine Art Foundations and Beginning Ceramics. Teach three courses per semester from 2-D and 3-D Design, Wheel-Throwing, Hand-Building, and Art Appreciation in small liberal arts college environment. Manage established studio.

MFA in Ceramics/Sculpture or related field. University teaching beyond graduate level.

Westminster College is a selective, residential, national liberal arts institution with historical ties to the Presbyterian Church (USA). The College enrolls about 1,500 full-time students and employs about 105 full time faculty. Located in rural western Pennsylvania, Westminster is within one hour of both Pittsburgh and Cleveland.

Application review begins immediately and will continue until January 18, 2010.

In this issue: A number of recent reports, using quite different methodologies and with different timing, have examined the effects of the recession on the cultural sector in Canada and elsewhere. The main consensus of these reports appears to be that endowments, foundations and business-related funding sources are probably the hardest hit by the recession.

25th Annual Tallahassee International Call for entry

Entry Deadline: February 14, 2010

The Tallahassee International is an annual juried competition organized by Florida State University Museum of Fine Arts. The competition is open to all media and is juried by a panel of faculty from within the College of Visual Arts, Theatre and Dance.

Digital images or slides will be accepted, but digital images are preferred and must be in jpeg format (300dpi – 3MB or less). No SASE is necessary – NEITHER SLIDES NOR CD’S WILL RETURNED. Call for entry – Porcelains and Celadons

Show dates: March 6 – 28, 2010 The Myers Gallery at Muddy’s Studio will begin their 2010 exhibit season with Porcelains and Celadons. This international juried show seeks to explore the delicate balance between the ancient celadon and its’ relationship to porcelains. Kevin A. Myers, artist, professor and gallery owner will be the juror for this show. Criteria for Porcelains and Celadons:
Submission of work covers thin, thick, carved, blue, green, yellow, functional and sculptural. Attention should be given to surface form and historical value of glaze.
