So much of my own work focuses on ceramic history or contemporary contextualization and social commentary, but i’ve always loved work that expresses itself through the language of the material and the properties inherent to ceramics. It’s a language I love, but am personally not that well versed in. I feel that there is a subtlety, beauty and universality to this sort of work, something I hope to tap into someday with the right project…The work of Rafa Perez has always intrigued me on this level.
